Independent study shows Life Whisperer’s AI can predict the viability of embryos that have previously been frozen
An independent study by the global fertility group IVI-RMA has shown that the Life Whisperer Viability AI can be effectively applied to images of embryos that were previously frozen, even though the AI was trained on images of embryos taken prior to freezing. The study was presented as an oral at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) 2023 Annual Meeting, June 2023 in Copenhagen.
Life Whisperer uses Artificial Intelligence to assess images of IVF patients’ embryos to evaluate their quality, in order to improve IVF outcomes. Life Whisperer uses two AI algorithms. Life Whisperer Viability AI assesses embryo images to evaluate how likely they are to lead to a pregnancy, and Life Whisperer Genetics AI non-invasively assesses embryo genetic integrity (euploidy) from morphology.
The study by clinic network IVI-RMA, which comprises over 70 fertility centers in 9 countries, provides new hope for patients that have already had their embryos frozen and want to take advantage of the latest in IVF AI technology. Previous studies have shown that Life Whisperer’s AI can reduce time to pregnancy by up to 25% compared to randomly selected embryos*.
These recent findings show that predictive computer vision AI evaluates the likelihood that a thawed embryo will result in implantation failure early enough to thaw another one on the same day with a better chance of success.
This study is important for the IVF and AI industries because it further validates the potential for AI imaging to provide an objective, low cost, and instant assessment of embryo viability to support IVF treatment.
